This week’s BA shared topic is an interesting one – was 5 levels enough?
This was the first expansion I attempted to power level. I started when the servers came up and dinged 85 at midday on the Thursday. I was quite quick. However for me, 5 levels was enough.
Since I dinged, I haven’t really stopped. I’ve got 3 85s now – Elsen, my paladin and my hunter. My priest is 83. Death knight is untouched. My shaman is 54 – but only 6 of those levels have been post Cataclysm – the first 48 I blasted through after the Shattering.
I’ve spent about 50k gold (all of Zal’s birthday present to me) on levelling my professions – I have a max level alchemist, blacksmith, enchanter, herbalist and engineer, as well as another engineer at 505, a scribe at 517, and a tailor at 490. My leatherworking is still at 450, and skinning at 300. No miner – but 2 engineers. Long story.
This expansion, I don’t know if raiding will be my thing. I think alts might be my thing. I think maybe my raiding career has ended. You know what the worst bit about this is? I’m going to miss out on so many achievements. Maybe PvP will be my thing this expansion…I don’t know. Not really decided yet.
For me, though, levelling is the means to the end. When I hit 85, that’s when I can really start things off. I have the whole of Twilight Highlands to do on all my characters in the hope to claw back some money. I’d like to become GOOD at the auction house – at the moment on Draenor it is cheaper to BUY flasks than it is to buy herbs and craft the flasks. How ridiculous is that?
(**oh god, someone behind me just got a sausage ciabatta from the shop. I feel like I’d kill them right now to be eating that**)
I’ve done Mount Hyjal 4 times now. Because I have so many alts – I’m glad it was only 5 levels. I’m glad my levelling process is short, sweet and bountiful cash wise, because once my character is 85 – THAT is when I can start to play the game.
