March 31st – Irontree Woods, Felwood

WoWScrnShot_040210_105303Irontree Woods are a prime example of how the fel corruption running through Felwood has destroyed the tranquil peacefulness that used to surround the area.

Three great ancients gave been petrified, and remain in positions of crying out in the middle of the Woods. The area is littered with statues, broken columns and remnants of a much nicer time.

What are Ancients?

Ancients, in night elf history and legend, are tree-like demigods. They are some of the most important figures in night elf history, and they are incredibly intelligent and wise, despite their slow movement and simple looks.

WoWScrnShot_040210_105252They are presumed to be many thousands of years old, some have been around since Archimonde and the Legion first marched on Hyjal (such as those in Irontree Woods).

Ancients speak mainly in Darnassian, but can speak common, and recent events such as the Second and Third Wars have made them increasingly suspicious of non-night elves.

Some ancients patrol the area they ‘protect’, however many simply stand still, making them almost indistinguishable from normal trees. There are ancients native to Outland, in particular Blade’s Edge, where there is a Grove dedicated to the now missing ancients.
