Mogging my Death Knight

So, in the final preparation weeks before Mists drops I’ve been trying to clear up a few bits and pieces. Whilst a general round up can be covered in another post, I thought I’d do a little mini post on how I’ve mogged out my death knight, because it’s one of the few characters where I’ve chosen to build a set myself, rather than being a cheap ass and using a Blizzard Tier set.

So, I present to you Ellenaie:

I designed her kit mostly around her hair and the idea of frost. Although she is a frost DK, this had little to do with the decision, it really was mostly aesthetics.

She’s rocking the Black Icicle and Falric’s Wrist-Chopper as weapons (both from Halls of Reflection Heroic).

Her boots are the Rock Furrow Boots (JP Legacy Vendor), pants are the Cobalt Legplates (NR Blacksmithing) and belt is the DK only Plaguebringer’s Girdle.

Gloves are Cobalt Gauntlets (NR Blacksmithing again) and her chestplate is the Light Elementium Chestguard (Cata Blacksmithing). Finally, her Cloak is the Shroud of the North Wind and is also DK specific, and her shoulders drop from Pit of Saron – the Shoulderplates of Frozen Blood.

My aim with this set was to have every single item picking out that luminescent blue her hair – and eyes! – have. Although in some places this is more obvious that others – the boots, belt, shoulders and weapons all have very distinctive glows – I feel the whole set pulls together quite well to make her look like a bit of a bad ass! I’m really pleased with how this mog turned out, I have to say. I’d be interested in any opinions and if anyone thinks I’ve missed the mark here, or if there’s some uber bit of gear I’ve missed that would work!

My next goal is my mage – she just needs her Boots from The Mechanar and gloves from Kara to finish her set off. Hopefully they’ll come soon enough!

OMG, can’t believe I forgot this…

My Death Knight dinged 80 on Saturday night!

That’s the lovely Ellenaie now at Level 80, standing there looking sheepish with nothing to do.

I’ve moved on to my priest now, although I am tempted to delve back into the world of PvP with the boy, or to gear up my paladin in heroics with a lovely friend who offered to help, cos I’m a coward and don’t like it when people laugh at me, but he “don’t take no shit” in heroics.

Regardless, things are progressing and I am steadily moving towards my pre-Cataclysm goals.

All I have to do now is reign in my desperate competitiveness and stop trying to beat Zal in achievements. I am resigned to the fact he has far more time than I do, which is why he’s racing ahead with 300 more points than me *grumble grumble grumble*.

Laters,

Sophx

April 20th – Temple of the Moon, Darnassus

Hmm my final post, I cant help but feel this location may have been chosen by the purple wench to lure me into some form of trap… oh well

The temple of the moon is the spiritual centre of the Night Elf capital Darnassus and is set imposingly on the banks of a lake within the city.

WoWScrnShot_042210_114037

After crossing the bridge you find yourself confronted with the central chamber of the temple itself…

WoWScrnShot_042210_114143

It is certainly an imposing sight, you have to hand it to the elves that they at least have an eye for the aesthetically pleasing, they even managed to fit in a fully working indoor swimming pool subtly into the design.

WoWScrnShot_042210_115036

…damn Elves, “disrespectful” my hoof threaten to kick me out would they?

The temple is the spiritual home of the Sisterhood of Elune, the longest running priesthood devoted to the worship of Elune. The central statue is of Haidene, the very first High Priestess of the moon.

Around the balcony members of the priesthood can be seen including Tyrande Whisperwind, the current High Priestess and leader of the Night Elves.

WoWScrnShot_042210_114453

To the left you can see fellow high ranking priestesses and to the right you can see two envoys of my people sent from the Exodar crash site, doubtless providing sage council.

That would seem to be it for the chill across the bones tour of Azeroth normal service will resume now that Elsen is returning from hugging trees or singing to deer or whatever druids do on their time off.

Good luck out there in Azeroth and pray to whatever gods you care to that you do not find yourself trampled underhoof.

April 19th – Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula

Hmm Thrallmar today, an Orc stronghold established by the new horde on the shattered ruins of Draenor to act as their fortress in their battles with the fel orcs of the Hellfire Peninsula.

Here you can see the entrance to the stronghold from the ground backed by the shattered skyline of outland.

WoWScrnShot_042110_010528

A view from the air shows that the settlement is fairly typical of Orc construction with their crude yet effective archtiecture of stone and wood.

WoWScrnShot_042110_010548

A surveillance of the Orc defenses show their intent quite readily, although their war engines overlook the Fel Horde’s abominable Path of Glory, paved with the bones of the Draenei victims of the horde genocide and close down that path they also are aimed distinctly towards the Alliance bastion Honor Hold.

WoWScrnShot_042110_010631

It would seem for the forces of the Alliance Thrallmar will need careful observation.

April 17th/18th – Pool of Twisted Reflections, Gundrak

Good evening again fellow travellers. I am afraid first of all I must concede a failure on my part, the foul Ice Trolls repelled me from their capital before I could take a photo of the Pool of Twisted Reflections so instead today I will talk a little about Gundrak itself.

WoWScrnShot_041910_234503

Gundrak as previously mentioned is the capital city of the Drakkari Ice Troll empire, sitting as it does at the very heart of Zul’drak.

As one approaches this imposing structure you will likely see ice trolls engaged in savage and ritualistic battles to the death against one another while their comrades look on cheering their favoured champion. These duels are a integral part of Drakkari culture allowing warriors to hone their skills in battle while culling off the weaker members of the tribe, an arrangement encouraged by their frost king.

The Drakkari are the first trolls in history to attempt to sacrifice their gods in an attempt to steal their power outside of the temple you can see Akali, the rhino god being drained of his power by the priest caste.

WoWScrnShot_041910_235708

Hmm I think I have seen all I need to see here, perhaps its better to sneak off now before they notice me.

Tune in tomorrow for more WoW tourism.

April 16th – Deathknell, Tirisfal Glades

Hmm I swear she is finding the most remote places to send me perhaps I have underestimated the purple wench and shes plotting something while my back is turned…

Deathknell is a town of the Forsaken located in the desolate pine forests of the Tirisfal Glades. Its name is somewhat unusual in that it no longer retains its original name from happier days having been renamed by the forsaken for reasons unknown.

The town itself is quite heavily fortified for such a small village as you can see…

WoWScrnShot_041810_000110

Quite a few unfortunate guards had to be trampled underhoof for me to gain access to the town, I hope you appreciate these things I do for you.

The village itself is fairly unremarkable and one would call it peaceful but for the scourge over running large parts of the town and the dolts of the Scarlet Crusade carrying out frequent raids on the wretched inhabitants from their encampment nearby.

WoWScrnShot_041810_000154

The most notable feature of the town is the crypt to the very north known to the locals as the “Shadow Grave”.

Here the Forsaken raise more of Lordaerons dead to serve their armies and hound the Alliance, fortunately most do not survive the process without being placed under the thrall of the Lich King and are obligingly burned by the Forsaken.

WoWScrnShot_041810_000356

Hmm best leave before more of those guards come back cutting down even the Forsaken gets tiring after awhile.

Log on tomorrow for a continuation of our tour round Azeroth.

April 15th – Wyrmrest Temple, The Dragonblight

Greetings once again, according to the druids notes today I am to guide you around the great Wyrmrest Temple in the Dragonblight.

WoWScrnShot_041610_235704

Quite the imposing structure isnt it?

Originally constructed by the Titans the Wyrmrest temple is rumored to be the place where the leaders of the five great dragonflights were first empowered as guardians of this realm. These days however the temple functions as the base of operations for the Wyrmrest Accord, A powerful union of the Red, Green, Black and Bronze Dragonflights against their blue brethern.

The temple is situated in the centre of the Dragonblight, an icy plain where the dragons of the world come to die when their time comes. Around the temple are several shrines, one belonging to each dragonflight each reflecting the flights purpose and nature for example the lush verdant emerald dragonshrine reflects the green dragons wardenship of nature while the magma and debris strewn black dragonshrine reflects that flights destructive nature.

The temple itself has many levels, the lowest of which is the chamber of aspects a grand chamber where the aspect of the Black Dragonflight Neltharion the earth warder tricked his brothers and sisters in the creation of a dark artifact known as the demon soul. The portals in this shrine lead off into five sub sections, each acting as a refuge and hatchery for its respective flight in the image below the portal to the Bronze Sanctum can be seen.

WoWScrnShot_041610_235913

Above this is the ground floor where select visitors allowed within the temple walls by the accord may find their rest from the harsh cold of the Dragonblight.

Above this lies the midsection of the tower in which lord Afrasastrasz, the commander of the wyrmrest temple defense directs the battle against the besieging blue dragons outside.

At the very pinnacle of the temple the official representatives of the various flights stand in council led by the dragon queen herself Alexstrasza the life binder, if you find yourself in such auspicious company remember to show your manners, it is wise to afford dragons respect lest you draw their wrath upon you.

WoWScrnShot_041710_000244

Here Alexstrasza is pictured with her lover, loyal second and consort Korialstrasz here using the name he adopts when in his elven form “Krasus”

Well that just about covers the Wyrmrest Temple, tune in tomorrow for another destination assuming I can find a way down from this pinnacle.

April 14th – Bael Modan, The Barrens

Greetings fool mortals! with the druid swept aside a new icy reign will sweep over this pitiful blog leaving only desolation in its wake!

*coughs* Sorry I get these little fits sometimes, its a death knight thing. Your usual host has taken a vacation away from the lands of Azeroth and has left me to pick up the slack lets check her notes….ah here…Bael Modan in the Barrens.

Bael Modan (Red Mountain in dwarvish, Imaginitive creatures these dwarves arent they?) is often heralded as the new home of Gnomes and Dwarves on Kalimdor. It is the Alliances largest settlement in the barrens boasting a population of 800.

WoWScrnShot_041510_230700

As you can see from the steam tank parked at the entrance this settlement has a significant garrison in order to protect the settlement from raiding centaur, horde warbands, and to protect Alliance caravans traversing the Barrens.

To your right when travelling up the pathway to the main building you will see the locals working hard to unearth the ruins of a Titan research outpost dating back a hundred thousand years. They work hard to excavate the platinum disks the Titans stored their secrets upon. Its  a shame noone alive can still read them really.

WoWScrnShot_041510_230739

This is the closest they would allow me to get they dont allow non dwarves into the ruins fearing bandits and thieves around the precious titan relics…they’ll get theirs treating ME like a suspicious character…

At any rate atop the red mountain itself lies Bael’dun keep an imposing fortress with a view far over the plains of the barrens affording the defenders early warning of any attack.

WoWScrnShot_041510_231134

Hmm lets venture inside….

WoWScrnShot_041510_231031

Ah the dwarven “morale officer” of the prestigous Barleybrew line, providing his family’s fine ales to the settlement. I think perhaps this place is not so bad after all.

What? dont look at me like that the dead are entitled to time off too you know oh leave me to my ale.

Check back tomorrow for another post on The Chill Across the Bones your one stop WoW tourism spot.
